Flying Officer Griffin took command of the Squadron in June 2017 from Flying Officer Strachan who went abroad to train to become an Air Traffic Controller at Edinburgh airport. After 7 years Fg Off Griffin timed out as a Cadet SNCO before being appointed as Squadron Adjutant and was Commissioned soon after. He hopes to build on the Sqn’s successes and with his Range Conducting Officer (RCO) qualification aims to get maximum use out of our on-site range getting Cadets through the new marksmanship syllabus. Outside of the Sqn, Fg Off Griffin has his Private Pilot’s Licence enjoying some flying in his spare time and is also a qualified Referee with the SFA.

Our aims are to:

  • Promote and encourage among young people a practical interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force
  • Provide training which will be useful in the Services and civilian life
  • Foster the spirit of adventure and develop qualities of leadership and good citizenship

And there's one more important thing - it's a lot of fun!

Cadets meet on the following days:

Parade evenings are every Tuesday and Thursday from 19:15 until 21:30

What is the ATC?

The Air Training Corps (ATC) is a uniformed youth organisation which is supported by and is structured in a similar way to the RAF. The ATC is not a recruiting organisation for the RAF, however, more than 70% of RAF aircrew are former cadets.

Interested in becoming an Air Cadet?

If you are up for some fun, excitement, incredible experiences and making new friends, then the adventure begins here, you just have to take the first step. If you are aged 12-17 and interested in becoming an Air Cadet, why not drop into the squadron and have a chat with one of our uniformed staff. The Air Cadets could be just the thing you have been looking for.

Interested in becoming an adult volunteer?

If you are aged 20+ with an interest in aviation and you are willing to offer some of your time to help train young people, please come and have a chat with our Squadron Commander Pilot Officer Griffin about becoming an Adult Volunteer.
